What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What is the recommended machining process for the Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods?
The Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods may require big-end or small-end honing to ensure proper fitment due to variations in journal and pin sizes. It's essential to check clearances and perform any necessary machining to achieve optimal performance.
What are the benefits of the 7/16 ARP2000 bolts used in these conrods?
The 7/16 ARP2000 bolts provide increased strength and reliability, making them suitable for high-performance applications. They are designed to handle the extreme forces generated by high horsepower 1JZ engines, ensuring the conrods maintain structural integrity under stress.
Can I use these conrods for applications exceeding 1000 RWHP?
While the Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods are designed to handle extreme power levels, reliability will depend on proper machining, clearances, tuning, and overall engine setup. Always consult with an experienced engine builder to ensure your specific application is within safe limits.
Are there any specific installation considerations for the Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods?
When installing the Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods, ensure that the main caps are properly aligned and that the conrods are torqued to the recommended specifications using ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant. It's also advisable to check for any necessary line boring of main caps after installation.
What material are the Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods made from?
The Spool 1JZ Drag Pro conrods are constructed from high tensile 4340 forged steel, which provides excellent strength and durability. They undergo processes such as quenching, heat treatment, and shot peening to enhance their performance characteristics.
