What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the material specifications of the Spool RB26 H beam conrods?
The Spool RB26 H beam conrods are made from high tensile 4340 forged steel, ensuring strength and durability. They undergo quenching and heat treatment, and are shot peened to enhance fatigue resistance.
Do I need to machine the small end for the Spool RB26 conrods?
Yes, the small end may require honing to achieve the correct pin size clearance, as there can be variations in OEM specifications. Always check the fitment with your specific piston pins.
What is the weight of the Spool RB26 H beam conrods?
Each Spool RB26 H beam conrod weighs approximately 595 grams, including the ARP bolts. This weight is part of a matched set, with variations kept within +/- 1 gram.
Are the Spool RB26 conrods suitable for high horsepower applications?
Yes, these conrods are designed for high-performance use and have been successfully used in builds exceeding 1000 RWHP. However, reliability will depend on proper machining, tuning, and overall engine build quality.
What additional features do the Spool RB26 conrods have?
The Spool RB26 conrods feature dowelled caps for precision alignment, side oil squirters for improved lubrication, and are 100% Magnafluxed to ensure there are no structural defects.
