What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the recommended machining requirements for the Spool RB26 Drag Pro conrods?
The Spool RB26 Drag Pro conrods may require honing of the big-end and small-end to ensure proper fitment due to factory variances in journal and pin sizes. Always check clearances with your specific crankshaft and pistons.
Can I use these conrods in a standard RB26 engine setup?
While the Spool RB26 Drag Pro conrods are designed for high-performance applications, they can be used in standard setups. However, their strength is best utilised in builds aiming for high horsepower and extreme conditions.
What is the benefit of the 7/16 ARP2000 bolts in these conrods?
The 7/16 ARP2000 bolts provide increased clamping force and reliability under high-stress conditions, making them suitable for extreme applications where traditional bolts may fail.
Are there any specific installation tips for the Spool RB26 Drag Pro conrods?
Ensure that the conrods are properly aligned during installation and that the fasteners are torqued to the recommended specifications using ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant. Always verify the integrity of the mating surfaces before assembly.
What type of performance can I expect from these conrods in an RB26 engine?
The Spool RB26 Drag Pro conrods are designed to handle extreme power levels, typically supporting builds over 1000 RWHP. However, actual performance will depend on factors such as machining, tuning, fuel quality, and overall engine setup.
