What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the specific machining requirements for the Spool FJ20 conrods?
The Spool FJ20 conrods may require small-end honing to ensure a proper fit with the 22mm pin size, depending on the specific piston and pin combination used. Always check clearances to ensure optimal performance.
What is the recommended application for the Spool FJ20 conrods?
These conrods are designed for high-performance applications in Nissan FJ20 engines. They can handle significant power levels, making them suitable for both street and race setups, especially in builds aiming for over 1000 RWHP.
Are the Spool FJ20 conrods compatible with OEM bearings?
No bearings are included with the Spool FJ20 conrods. It is essential to source compatible bearings that meet the specifications for your specific engine build, as the conrods are designed to work with aftermarket or OEM options based on your setup.
What is the weight of the Spool FJ20 conrods, and how does it affect performance?
Each Spool FJ20 conrod weighs 665g. This weight is optimised for performance, contributing to a balanced rotating assembly, which is crucial for high RPM applications. Weight matching within ±1 gram helps maintain consistency across the set.
What features enhance the durability of the Spool FJ20 conrods?
The Spool FJ20 conrods are made from high tensile 4340 forged steel and undergo processes such as quenching, heat treatment, and shot peening. They are also 100% Magnafluxed and X-RAY tested, ensuring they can withstand high-stress conditions typical in performance applications.
