What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the specific dimensions for the Spool Mitsubishi 4G63 DragPro I-Beam Conrods?
These conrods are designed for Mitsubishi 4G63 engines with a centre-to-centre length of 150mm, a pin size of 22mm, and a big-end tunnel diameter of 48mm.
What materials and treatments are used in the construction of these conrods?
The Spool DragPro I-Beam conrods are made from high tensile 4340 forged steel, feature a two-piece forging, and undergo processes such as quenching, heat treatment, shot peening, and are 100% Magnafluxed to ensure integrity.
Are there any specific machining requirements for these conrods?
While the conrods are a direct fit for the specified engines, it is advisable to check the big-end and small-end for proper clearances and honing as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
Can I upgrade the bolts on these conrods?
Yes, there is an option to upgrade to ARP L19 bolts, which provide additional strength and reliability for high-performance applications.
What is the weight tolerance for the Spool 4G63 conrod sets?
The conrod sets are weight matched to within ±1 gram, ensuring consistency across all rods in the set for balanced performance.
