What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What are the specifications of the Carrillo conrods for the VW TSI 2.0L?

The Carrillo conrods for the VW TSI 2.0L feature a centre-to-centre length of 5.67 inches (144 mm), a pin width of 0.862 inches (21.89 mm), and a big end bore of 1.9928 inches (50.617 mm). They are designed with a 3/8 inch bolt size and are manufactured from proprietary steel forgings for enhanced strength and durability.

What machining considerations should I be aware of when installing these conrods?

When installing the Carrillo conrods, it's essential to check for proper big-end and small-end clearances. Due to manufacturing tolerances, you may need to hone the big-end to achieve the correct fit on the crankshaft journals. Always ensure that the conrods are properly aligned and that the engine builder verifies all clearances before final assembly.

Are these conrods suitable for high-performance applications?

Yes, these Carrillo conrods are designed for high-performance applications, including racing. They provide a high strength-to-weight ratio and are built to withstand extreme conditions. However, the reliability and performance will depend on proper machining, tuning, and the overall engine setup.

What is the weight of the Carrillo conrods for the VW TSI?

The total weight of each Carrillo conrod for the VW TSI is approximately 538 grams, with a rotating weight of 383 grams and a reciprocating weight of 155 grams. This lightweight design contributes to improved engine response and performance.

What is the lead time for ordering these conrods?

These conrods are special order items. If not in stock at CP Carrillo, please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. You will be informed of the estimated time of arrival if there are any delays.
