Kelford KVS223-BT Beehive Valve Spring and Titanium Retainer Kit
The Kelford KVS223-BT is a complete valve spring, retainer and seat kit for high boost and high rpm engine builds. Spool Imports lists this kit for Nissan TB48DE and Toyota 1FZ-FE applications.
The beehive springs use silicon chrome spring steel with fatigue resistance and a high frequency design to help control spring surge. Titanium retainers and 4140 steel spring seats are included as a matched package.

Fitment and installation
Applications: Nissan TB48DE and Toyota 1FZ-FE. Kelford describes this part under its TB48DE range; Spool Imports also lists it for 1FZ-FE. Confirm the installed height, spring pocket location and all operating clearances on your cylinder head.
Kelford advises checking retainer-to-seal clearance for 14 mm lift and sinking the guide and spring register into the head as required, providing an additional 0.5 mm clearance. The spring seat locates on the original spring pocket inner diameter. Heads vary, so measure before machining or assembly.
Have your engine builder confirm spring pressure at the actual installed height and compatibility with the camshaft, valves and remaining valvetrain. The maximum lift figure is not a guarantee of clearance on an unmodified head.

Does KVS223-BT suit both TB48 and 1FZ engines?
Spool Imports lists this kit for Nissan TB48DE and Toyota 1FZ-FE engines. Kelford's product page describes the TB48DE application. For either engine, have your engine builder check the installed height, spring seat location and retainer-to-seal clearance on the actual cylinder head.

What are the spring pressure and lift specifications?
Kelford specifies 100 lb seat pressure at 36.8 mm installed height, 250 lb at 13.8 mm valve lift, 22.0 mm coil bind height and a maximum valve lift of 14.0 mm. These specifications must be checked against the installed height and camshaft in your engine.
Does the kit require cylinder head machining?
Machining may be required. Kelford advises checking retainer-to-seal clearance and sinking the guide and spring register into the head as required to achieve 14 mm valve lift, allowing an additional 0.5 mm clearance. Cylinder heads vary, so your engine builder must measure before assembly.
Can I reuse the standard retainers with these beehive springs?
Use the titanium retainers and steel spring seats supplied with this kit. It is sold as a matched spring, retainer and seat package; do not assume the original retainers are interchangeable.
