Atomic Barra Complete Heavy-Duty Timing Chain Kit
The Complete Kit renews and upgrades the Ford Barra timing system with Atomic's heavy-duty chain, billet components and Street billet tensioner. It is the comprehensive configuration for BA through FG X Barra 4.0L rebuilds and performance engines where factory chains, guides and sprockets can become reliability limitations.

Critical installation information
Correct cam and crank timing is essential. Do not manually add tension to the guide. Use the factory timing-cover dowels and check guide-to-cover clearance before running the engine; Atomic recommends at least 2 mm. A cover fitted without dowels can contact and break the guide.
The kit is designed around a 1.0 mm head gasket. Thicker gaskets—particularly 1.8 mm—may over-tension the chain or prevent correct tensioner operation. Contact Atomic before installation if the engine uses a non-standard deck height or head-gasket thickness. Avoid high RPM while the oil is cold and allow the hydraulic tensioner to take up slack normally.

Should I manually add tension during installation?
No. Do not manually advance the tensioner or force tension onto the guide. Follow the included timing instructions and allow the hydraulic tensioner to operate as designed.
