What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What is the recommended installation procedure for ARP L19 7/16 bolts?

When installing ARP L19 7/16 bolts, it is crucial to tighten them by stretch rather than torque. Aim for a stretch of 0.0070" to 0.0074" to ensure proper clamping force and reliability under high-stress conditions.

What are the advantages of using ARP L19 bolts over ARP2000?

ARP L19 bolts offer superior strength and fatigue resistance compared to ARP2000, making them suitable for high-demand racing applications where extreme inertia loads are present. They can handle clamp loads up to 260,000 psi, which is beneficial for serious racing environments.

How should I care for ARP L19 bolts to maintain their performance?

To prevent hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion, ARP L19 bolts should be kept well-oiled and stored in a dry environment. Avoid exposure to moisture and handle them carefully during installation to ensure longevity and performance.

Are there specific applications where ARP L19 bolts are preferred?

ARP L19 bolts are ideal for short track and drag racing applications where the clamping capability of ARP2000 bolts may be exceeded. They are designed for high-performance engines that experience extreme loads.

Can I use ARP L19 bolts in non-racing applications?

While ARP L19 bolts can technically be used in non-racing applications, their design and strength are specifically tailored for high-demand racing environments. For standard applications, consider using bolts that meet the necessary specifications without the added performance characteristics of L19.
