What is included in a typical Spool engine kit?
Kits usually include pistons, rings, rods, bearings and related hardware depending on the engine family. Check the listing for exact inclusions.
Do I still need machining with a full engine kit?
Yes. The block must be honed and all clearances checked and set by your builder. Assembly should only occur after full measurement and verification.
What are the recommended clearances for the CP pistons in the 4AGE rebuild kit?
The bore clearance for CP pistons should be set according to the specific application and intended use. Generally, a clearance of 0.0025" to 0.0035" is a good starting point, but always consult with your engine builder for precise specifications based on your setup.
Do I need to modify my engine block for the H beam conrods?
Yes, due to variations in the different 4AGE models, some clearancing at the bottom of the cylinder block may be required to accommodate the H beam connecting rods. Always check for clearance before final assembly.
What is the torque specification for the ARP2000 bolts included with the conrods?
For the ARP2000 bolts, you should torque them to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8" bolts using ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant. Always refer to ARP's latest instructions for the most accurate guidance.
What compression ratio do the CP pistons provide in this rebuild kit?
The CP pistons in this rebuild kit are available with a compression ratio of 9.0:1. This ratio is suitable for a variety of performance applications, but ensure your tuning and fuel quality match your performance goals.
What type of head gasket is included in the rebuild kit?
The rebuild kit includes a Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) head gasket, which is designed for high-performance applications and provides excellent sealing under boost conditions. Ensure the surface finish of the cylinder head meets the required RA specifications for optimal performance.
