What material are CP-Carrillo forged pistons made from?
CP-Carrillo pistons are manufactured from high-strength 2618-T61 aluminium alloy forgings. This alloy offers excellent durability under high heat and high cylinder pressures, making it ideal for boosted and high-performance sport compact engines.
What is included with a CP-Carrillo piston kit?
Each CP-Carrillo piston kit includes forged pistons, high-quality piston rings, wrist pins (gudgeon pins), and locks. Everything you need for the piston assembly is included in the box.
Can the wrist pins be upgraded?
Yes. CP-Carrillo wrist pins can be upgraded to stronger 9310 steel pins. These upgraded pins provide increased resistance to bending and fatigue under extreme loads.
Why would I upgrade to 9310 wrist pins?
Upgrading to 9310 pins is recommended for high-boost, high-RPM, or nitrous applications. The stronger 9310 material provides additional support for the piston and reduces the risk of pin flex or failure when cylinder pressures are significantly above factory levels.
Do CP-Carrillo pistons come with performance ring sets?
Yes. Every CP-Carrillo piston kit includes a performance ring pack matched to the piston design. This ensures maximum sealing and reliability in high-load environments.
Do CP-Carrillo pistons require special fitment or machining?
Yes. As with any forged performance piston, correct piston-to-wall clearance, ring end gaps, deck height, and pin fitment must be verified during assembly. Proper machining ensures maximum performance and longevity.
Do you have these pistons in stock?
We keep a large range of popular CP-Carrillo pistons in stock. If a particular set isn’t on our shelves, we receive weekly DHL Express shipments direct from CP-Carrillo. Orders for out-of-stock items usually ship the following week — CP dispatches on Friday (USA time) and we receive the shipment on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.
Some piston part numbers are made to order, and CP-Carrillo may or may not have these available immediately. Even regularly stocked items can occasionally be temporarily out of stock. We have live inventory visibility with CP-Carrillo and can check availability for you at any time.
If a piston set is not currently available at CP-Carrillo, the typical lead time is 3–5 weeks.
