What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What are the specific machining requirements for the Carrillo conrods SCR5160 for the BMW S50B30?

The Carrillo conrods SCR5160 may require honing of the big-end and small-end to achieve the correct journal and pin sizes. It's essential to check the fitment with your crankshaft and pistons to ensure proper clearances.

What is the recommended installation procedure for the SCR5160 conrods?

When installing the SCR5160 conrods, ensure that the big-end and small-end are properly aligned and that the bolts are torqued or stretched according to ARP specifications. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for final assembly to maintain reliability.

What is the weight of the Carrillo SCR5160 conrods, and how does it affect performance?

The total weight of each Carrillo SCR5160 conrod is approximately 516 grams. A lighter conrod can reduce reciprocating mass, potentially improving engine response and RPM capabilities, but ensure that the rest of the rotating assembly is balanced accordingly.

Are there specific fasteners included with the SCR5160 conrods?

Yes, the SCR5160 conrods come with custom-designed ARP2000 bolts. It's crucial to use the recommended lubrication and follow the correct torque or stretch specifications during installation to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

What is the expected lead time for the Carrillo SCR5160 conrods if they are not in stock?

The Carrillo SCR5160 conrods are special order items, and you should allow up to 2 weeks for delivery if they are not in stock. CP Carrillo will provide an estimated time of arrival if there are any delays.
