What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What is the recommended torque specification for the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts?
For the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts, the recommended torque specification is around 55 ft-lb when using ARP Ultra-Torque lubricant. Always refer to ARP's latest instructions for the most accurate guidance.
Can the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts be used with both steel and aluminium conrods?
Yes, the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts are designed to be compatible with both steel and aluminium conrods, making them a versatile choice for various engine builds.
What applications are best suited for the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts?
The ARP 2000 3/8 bolts are ideal for short track and drag racing applications, where high strength and reliability are critical for performance.
What is the clamp load capacity of the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts?
The ARP 2000 3/8 bolts have a clamp load capacity of 220,000 psi, providing superior strength compared to standard chrome moly bolts.
How do I ensure the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts maintain their performance over time?
To maintain the performance of the ARP 2000 3/8 bolts, ensure proper installation and avoid exposure to conditions that could lead to stress corrosion or hydrogen embrittlement.
