Part Description |
Manufactured from USA made oversized proprietary steel forgings to enable proper grain flow and guarantee removal of any surface inclusions, CP-Carrillo ensures strength and durability of each Carrillo rod. Consistent and reliable from the first point of precision manufacturing all the way to extreme uses in racing world, exclusive Carrillo H beam and Pro (S)A designs offer the highest strength-to-weight ratio; 100 traceability; multi-step final inspection; |
Fatigue and over-revving are the two major causes of connecting rod failure. CP Carrillo rods are not only stronger than OEM rods, but they are lighter weight, which means less weight for the engine to throw around at high RPM, and more horsepower output.

What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the key features of the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod for Yamaha YFZ450R?
The Carrillo PRO-A Conrod for Yamaha YFZ450R is manufactured from USA-made oversized proprietary 8620 steel forgings, ensuring optimal grain flow and the removal of surface inclusions. It features a tapered design, a big end bore of 45.016 mm, and a rod centre-to-centre length of 108 mm, providing a high strength-to-weight ratio suitable for high-performance applications.
Is machining required for the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod installation?
While the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod is designed for direct fitment, it is advisable to check the big-end and small-end clearances. Depending on the specific engine and its condition, honing may be necessary to achieve the correct fit. Always consult with your engine builder for precise machining requirements.
What is the weight of the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod for the YFZ450R?
The Carrillo PRO-A Conrod weighs 302 grams. This lightweight design contributes to reduced rotating mass, which can enhance engine responsiveness and overall performance.
What are the typical applications for the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod?
The Carrillo PRO-A Conrod is designed for high-performance use in the Yamaha YFZ450R from 2009 to 2015. It is suitable for racing and recreational applications where enhanced strength and durability are required, especially under high RPM and load conditions.
How does the construction of the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod affect its performance?
The construction from proprietary 8620 steel and the precision manufacturing process ensure that the Carrillo PRO-A Conrod is not only stronger than OEM rods but also lighter. This results in less weight for the engine to manage at high RPM, potentially leading to increased horsepower output and improved reliability in extreme conditions.
