Part Description

Manufactured from USA made oversized proprietary steel forgings to enable proper grain flow and guarantee removal of any surface inclusions, CP-Carrillo ensures strength and durability of each Carrillo rod. Consistent and reliable from the first point of precision manufacturing all the way to extreme uses in racing world, exclusive Carrillo H beam and Pro (S)A designs offer the highest strength-to-weight ratio; Custom designed fasteners; 100 traceability; multi-step final inspection; CP-Carrillo moly based fastener lubrication included.

Fatigue and over-revving are the two major causes of connecting rod failure.  CP Carrillo rods are not only stronger than OEM rods, but they are lighter weight, which means less weight for the engine to throw around at high RPM, and more horsepower output.

What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What are the specific machining requirements for the Carrillo PRO-H conrods for Ducati 851/748/916?

The Carrillo PRO-H conrods typically require precise big-end honing to ensure proper fitment on the crankshaft journals. It's crucial to check the clearances as they can vary due to manufacturing tolerances. Always consult with your engine builder for specific machining needs.

What is the recommended installation procedure for the Carrillo PRO-H conrods?

When installing the Carrillo PRO-H conrods, ensure that the big-end and small-end are properly aligned. Use the specified 8mm CARR bolts and follow the recommended torque or stretch specifications as per ARP guidelines. Proper lubrication of the bolts is essential for accurate torque readings.

How do the weight and design of the Carrillo PRO-H conrods affect performance?

The Carrillo PRO-H conrods are designed to be lighter than OEM rods, which reduces reciprocating mass and allows for higher RPM capabilities. This design, combined with the strength of 4330M steel, enhances overall engine performance by improving throttle response and power output.

What is the significance of the taper design in the Carrillo PRO-H conrods?

The taper design of the Carrillo PRO-H conrods helps in optimising the strength-to-weight ratio while maintaining structural integrity under high-stress conditions. This design feature is particularly beneficial in high-performance applications, such as racing, where durability and weight savings are critical.

Are there any specific considerations for using Carrillo PRO-H conrods in racing applications?

For racing applications, it's essential to ensure that the Carrillo PRO-H conrods are matched with a balanced rotating assembly and that the engine is tuned for optimal performance. Additionally, monitoring for fatigue and ensuring proper lubrication can help prevent failures during high-stress conditions.
