What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the specific machining requirements for the CR7449 conrods?
The CR7449 conrods may require honing of the big-end to ensure proper fitment on the crankshaft journal. It's essential to check for any variations in the journal size and perform necessary machining to achieve the correct clearance.
What is the recommended stretch for the CARR S7 bolts in the CR7449 conrods?
For the 7/16 CARR S7 bolts used in the CR7449 conrods, the recommended stretch is between 0.0060" and 0.0070". Always ensure to follow ARP's latest instructions for the most accurate tightening procedure.
What is the weight of each CR7449 conrod and how does it affect performance?
Each CR7449 conrod weighs approximately 834 grams. The lightweight design contributes to reduced reciprocating mass, which can improve engine response and overall performance, especially in high RPM applications.
Can the CR7449 conrods be used in applications beyond NHRA racing?
While the CR7449 conrods are designed for NHRA racing applications, they can also be suitable for high-performance street builds or other motorsport applications. However, ensure that your engine's tuning, clearances, and overall setup are compatible with the demands of your specific use case.
What is the centre-to-centre length of the CR7449 conrods and how does it affect engine assembly?
The CR7449 conrods have a centre-to-centre length of 6.861 inches. This dimension is critical for ensuring proper piston height and compression ratio in your engine assembly, so verify compatibility with your specific 426 HEMI setup.
