What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What is the recommended application for the Carrillo Conrods SCR5530?
The Carrillo Conrods SCR5530 are designed specifically for the 3.2L and 3.6L VR6 engines found in Porsche and VW models. They are suitable for applications with an 84mm bore or larger, making them ideal for performance builds that require enhanced strength and reliability.
What machining considerations should I be aware of when using these conrods?
When installing the SCR5530 conrods, be prepared for potential machining of the big-end and small-end to ensure proper fitment. It's crucial to check the clearances and tolerances based on your specific engine setup, as variations can occur.
What is the weight of the Carrillo Conrods SCR5530?
The total weight of each Carrillo Conrod SCR5530 is approximately 503 grams, with a rotating weight of 354 grams and a reciprocating weight of 149 grams. This weight contributes to the overall performance characteristics of your engine.
Are there any specific installation tips for the SCR5530 conrods?
Ensure that you follow the manufacturer's guidelines for installation, including proper lubrication of the fasteners. It's also advisable to check the alignment and fitment of the conrods with the crankshaft and pistons to avoid any interference during operation.
What is the construction material of the SCR5530 conrods?
The SCR5530 conrods are manufactured from proprietary oversized steel forgings, which provide excellent strength and durability. This construction method ensures optimal grain flow and the removal of surface inclusions, making them suitable for high-performance applications.
