What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What are the specific machining requirements for the SCR5156 conrods?

The SCR5156 conrods may require honing of the big-end and small-end bores to achieve the correct clearances for your specific application. It's essential to check the fitment with your crankshaft and pistons to ensure optimal performance.

What is the recommended application for the Carrillo SCR5156 conrods?

The SCR5156 conrods are designed for high-performance applications in the BMW S38B35 and S38B36 engines, particularly in racing or modified setups where increased strength and reliability are critical.

What is the weight of the SCR5156 conrods?

The total weight of each SCR5156 conrod is approximately 556 grams, with a rotating weight of 387 grams and a reciprocating weight of 169 grams. This weight contributes to the overall performance and balance of your engine.

Can I use SCR5156 conrods with other BMW engines?

The SCR5156 conrods are specifically designed for the S38B35 and S38B36 engines. While they may fit other BMW engines, it is crucial to verify compatibility with your specific engine model and its requirements.

What type of fasteners are included with the SCR5156 conrods?

The SCR5156 conrods come with custom-designed ARP2000 fasteners, which provide excellent strength and reliability for high-performance applications. Always follow ARP's latest instructions for installation and torque specifications.
