What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?

These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.

Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?

No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.

Do the big end and small end need machining?

They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.

What are the specific applications for the Carrillo conrods SCR5538?

The Carrillo conrods SCR5538 are designed for use in Volkswagen 1.8T, 2.0 16v (9A), and 2.2L 5-cylinder engines. They are suitable for both 4 and 5-cylinder configurations.

What is the recommended machining process for the big end of these conrods?

The big end of the SCR5538 conrods may require honing to achieve the correct fitment on the crankshaft journals. It's essential to check the clearances and ensure proper fitment during installation.

What is the weight of the SCR5538 conrods, and how does it affect performance?

The total weight of each SCR5538 conrod is 578 grams, with a rotating weight of 408 grams and a reciprocating weight of 170 grams. The lightweight design contributes to improved engine response and reduced stress on the engine components.

What is the significance of the Pro-H design in these conrods?

The Pro-H design of the SCR5538 conrods provides a high strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for high-performance applications. This design ensures durability and reliability under extreme conditions, such as racing.

What should I consider regarding installation and fitment of the SCR5538 conrods?

When installing the SCR5538 conrods, ensure that the big end and small end are properly machined to match the crankshaft and piston pin specifications. Additionally, it's crucial to follow the recommended torque or stretch specifications for the ARP bolts used with these conrods.
