What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the specific machining requirements for the SCR5532 conrods?
The SCR5532 conrods may require honing of the big-end or small-end to achieve the correct journal and pin sizes, as there can be variations in OEM specifications. Always verify clearances with your engine builder to ensure proper fitment.
What is the recommended application for the Carrillo SCR5532 conrods?
The SCR5532 conrods are designed for high-performance applications in the 2.0L ABA engine, making them suitable for both street and racing environments. Their strength and durability make them ideal for builds that may experience increased power levels and RPM.
What is the weight of the SCR5532 conrods and how does it affect performance?
Each SCR5532 conrod weighs approximately 594 grams. The lightweight design contributes to reduced reciprocating mass, which can enhance engine response and overall performance, especially in high-revving applications.
Are there any specific installation tips for the SCR5532 conrods?
When installing the SCR5532 conrods, ensure that the conrod bolts are properly lubricated with the included moly-based fastener lubricant. Follow ARP's latest instructions for torque or stretch specifications to ensure secure fastening.
Can the SCR5532 conrods be used with aftermarket pistons?
Yes, the SCR5532 conrods can be used with aftermarket pistons, but it is essential to check compatibility regarding pin size and clearance. Ensure that the piston and conrod combination meets the required specifications for your engine build.
