What bolts do these conrods use and how should I tighten them?
These rods use ARP conrod bolts, usually ARP2000 as standard with L19 or CA625+ available on some models. ARP2000 bolts are generally torqued to around 55 ft-lb for 3/8 inch and around 75 ft-lb for 7/16 inch when using ARP Ultra-Torque lube. L19 bolts must be tightened by stretch, not torque. Always refer to the latest ARP instructions for exact specifications.
Do these conrods have a horsepower rating or warranty?
No. Like other performance rods, they do not carry a horsepower or performance warranty. Spool warrants workmanship before installation, but once fitted, power handling depends entirely on machining, clearances, tuning, fuel, boost level and rpm.
Do the big end and small end need machining?
They often do. Crank journals and pin bores vary between engines, so your builder should measure the big end oil clearance and small end pin clearance and hone as required before assembly.
What are the specifications of the Carrillo conrods for the K24 engine?
The Carrillo conrods for the K24 engine (SKU: SCR4251) have a centre-to-centre length of 5.984 inches (152 mm), a big end bore of 2.008 inches (51.003 mm), and a pin bore of 22 mm. They are designed with a 3/8 bolt size and feature a big end width of 0.782 inches (19.86 mm).
What is the recommended application for these conrods?
These conrods are designed for high-performance applications in the Honda K24 engine, particularly suitable for racing and modified builds where strength and reliability are critical. They are built to handle increased power levels, but the actual performance will depend on proper machining and tuning.
Do I need to machine the big end or small end for these conrods?
Yes, it is common for the big end and small end to require honing to achieve the correct clearances due to manufacturing tolerances. Always verify the fitment with the specific crankshaft and piston being used in your build.
What type of fasteners are included with these conrods?
The Carrillo conrods come with custom-designed WMC fasteners, which are known for their strength and reliability. Ensure to follow ARP's guidelines for installation and torque specifications.
What is the weight of these conrods?
The total weight of each Carrillo conrod is approximately 496 grams, with a rotating weight of 360 grams and a reciprocating weight of 136 grams. This weight contributes to the overall performance and balance of the engine assembly.
